ABOUT THE GUITAR

Here is the write-up on this awesome instrument from Precision Guitar:

Alamo electric guitars were made in San Antonio, Texas in the 1960s. They are uncommon. We've only seen maybe five or so come through the shop in the last 20 years and one of them is this single pickup model 2586 "Fiesta".
These are interesting guitars: they have a weird mix of features. The body is an almost fully hollow construction made with kerfed bent sides around a small frame that has a thin top and back  clamshelled on. They are extremely light. This guitar is just under four and a half pounds and it's heavier than the other Fiesta we've seen!
The headstocks were made with some kind of "tab A into slot B" tongue and groove wood joinery that is unlike any other guitar maker. If you look carefully at the headstock you can see an opaque yellow sprayed around the edge to hide the glue joints. The face of the headstock is slightly curved, sanded convex after the pieces were joined.
Alamo made their own bridges and pickups. The pickups are very basic, with a coil wound on an Alnico bar magnet and encased under a metal cover. Alamo used this same pickup in all positions on everything, lap steels, guitars, and basses.
The bridge is a cheap, but clever design that seems to have been inspired by Danelectro, with a floating rosewood saddle on a bent piece of chromed sheet metal that is hinged on a baseplate with some height adjusting thumbwheels.
This particular one has a replacement pickguard which was slightly tricky. For ease of production or speed, the pickguards for these seem to have been done in small batches. None of them match, or at least, we haven't found two that match yet... we had to use the screw hole locations in the body and derive an outline based on another Fiesta pickguard.
We did a fret level, setup, and compensated the saddle. This guitar plays very easily and has a surprisingly good sound. The pickup had a bit of "handling" noise, and to cut that down, it has been wax dipped to stake the coil assembly.
The guitar has its original chipboard case.
